IImmersed in a life of healing since birth, Aaron first learned the art of
bodywork from his mother, Shari Sunshine, LMT, who co-founded the Ashland Massage Institute, Syntropy International, and the Jerusalem Center for the Healing Arts. Aaron is also a graduate of the Lomi Oluea School of Traditional Hawaiian Massage on Maui, Hawaii. and the co-founder of Syntropy International. With a background in Healing Chi Kung, Meditation and Yoga built from his studies in the US and Asia, Aaron emphasizes body awareness, intuition, and self-care in all of his classes. Because all of his bodywork studies have been in an apprenticeship format, Aaron appreciates one-on-one education, and intentionally keeps the Arcata School of Massage small and student-centered. Shari Sunshine brings her students more than 30 years experience in bodywork, meditation, and movement. She co-founded Syntropy International, the Ashland Massage Institute, and the Jerusalem Center for the Healing Arts. A perpetual student of the healing arts, Shari has studied with many of the pioneers and originators of modern techniques, as well as some of the ancient lineage-holders of Asia. Katherine is a graduate of the Mendocino School of Holistic massage and the School of Shiatsu and Massage with training in a variety of modalities including Swedish/Esalen, Polarity, Deep tissue, Hot stone and Aquatic massage. Her work is a unique blend integrating the energy and physical bodies for a truly holistic massage. Her approach to teaching includes an emphasis in body mechanics and professional skills, as well as guiding students to find their own creativity. Connie makes the Student Clinic Internship into real-world on-the-job-training. Connie is a graduate of the Arcata School of Massage. She also works as a massage therapist at a nearby Chiropractic office.

Carlisle maintains a full-time massage therapy practice in Arcata, CA. Primarily clinical in her approach to bodywork, she incorporates muscle energy techniques, positional release, myofascial release and deep tissue techniques in a Swedish style massage to facilitate injury recovery, chronic pain management and proactive health maintenance. Carlisle applies her 20 years experience as an educator to creating a learning environment that is fun, comfortable and nurturing. Her courses facilitate the intellectual learning of massage theory, technique and anatomy while encouraging the application of intuition, creativity and personal style.
Jenny Wurtz , CMT

As a agrduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Biology and Anthropology, a graduate of the Arcata School of Massage, and a practicing therapist, Jenny brings her fascination with the science of life to the classroom in a way that is fun, knowedgeable, and practical. In addition to teaching Pathophysiology, Jenny is also available all year as the Teaching Assistant for Massage Technique and Somatic Bodywork.
